Agility Trials March 2025
Chama’s run in Open Standard Agility on Sunday, the third day of the trials. He finished his Novice Standard Agility title on Saturday, and Sunday was his first time running in the Open class. He scored 100 on this run, earning the first of the three legs required for the Open Standard Agility title. He and Jeff trained for about a year and a half before entering their first trials in mid-January.
His last event for the weekend was Open Jumpers with Weaves. He got his Novice title in JWW on Friday, graduating to Open JWW, scored 100 in it on Saturday and again on Sunday. He needs one more qualifying run in this class for his Open JWW title. After Open, the next level is Excellent.
Right before the second jump, Chama spotted a big orange measuring tape on the dirt in front of the Scorers’ table and veered off to check it out. Fortunately he got back to business when Jeff called him. No points were lost because:
- He hadn’t committed to the next jump yet.
- He didn’t cross the plane of that jump, which would have been a “refusal”, which I think is a disqualifier. Whew!
